Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes
Bringing companies and public research laboratories closer

Created in 2006, the Carnot label aims to develop partnership research, that is to say the conduct of research carried out by public laboratories in partnership with companies (from SMEs to large groups), in response to their needs.

The research partnership is an important lever for the economy by promoting business innovation, competitiveness and guarantee growth.

The Carnot label is awarded to public research structures which simultaneously conduct upstream research activities specific to renew their scientific and technological skills and a proactive policy research partnership in favor of the socio-economic world.

The Tremplin Carnot are research structures selected for their strong partnership potential without fulfilling yet completely all Carnot Institute requirements. The goal is to obtain the Carnot label within 3 years. They receive special financial support to achieve the improvement actions needed to achieve this goal.

The Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Institute was labeled "Tremplin Carnot" in July 2016.

The Carnot program is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and managed by the French National Research Agency.

Carnot institutes are federated within the Association of Institutes Carnot which is in charge of the animation of the network, for more information on the institutes Carnot and the network:
